NICE CHALLENGE KICK OFF

On January 16th the kick off of the NICE Challenge took place in Utrecht, were Dutch students gathered for a chat session with their Gambian team mates. In teams 9 Dutch and 9 Gambian students will work on the development of a new service for NICE centers in Gambia. The winning team can be rewarded with €5,000 to actually excecute their idea.

The coming weeks the teams will prepare their assignment through online communication before the Dutch students leave for Gambia from February 17th until 26th. In Gambia both Dutch and Gambian participants will provide workshops, and prepare a presentation of their product proposal for a professional local jury. As part of the project, Dutch students will be hosted in a Gambian compound by families of their Gambian counterparts.

EU Energy Facility II - 16 juli 2010

NICE submitted an application to the EU Energy Facility, a EUR 100 million fund from the EU aimed at supporting sustainable energy projects in developing countries. We applied for a substantial subsidy for the expansion of NICE in Gambia with 15 centres and for the introduction of NICE in Zambia and Tanzania with a total of 35 centres in the period 2011-2014.

Second franchiser started - 16 juli 2010

NICE Gambia's second franchise center NICE center was officially opened this month. The franchise taker is our former long time employee Ebrima Manjang. The third and fourth centers will be opened very soon.

Tanzania and Zambia - 16 juli 2010

In June Ties Kroezen, Managing Director of NICE International visited Zambia and Tanzania to explore the possibilities of introducing NICE in these countries and to meet potential partners. Both countries look attractive for our business. All local people that we met were very enthousiastic about the NICE concept. The local partner banks of Rabobank in these countries are willing to support the introduction of NICE. The funding for this expansion will be sought from the EU Energy Facility II.
