NICE-centers contain an ICT-infrastructure consisting of a number of thin clients, connected to a central server. This infrastructure is energy-efficient, low cost, can be centrally maintained and is easily scalable. The infrastructure includes a multifunctional printer/scanner/copier for document services.
NICE-centers run the Linux-Ubuntu operating system that is low cost, requires less hardware resources and is less vulnerable to viruses compared to Windows. NICE has its own center management application called Emaganda. Through this application, customers get access to office applications and the Internet, and all customers get an account in the system with their own desktop and storage space. Emaganda supports the business processes in the center, such as sales, price management, cash management, computer time management, education planning, inventory management, personnel scheduling and reporting. Emaganda is very flexible and allows for instance to have different prices for different times of the day and to do promotions. These marketing tools are important in managing the occupation rate of the centers.
NICE Centers are connected to the Internet through an Internet Service Provider. Currently this is done through a wireless broadband link, but other access methods can be applied depending on the conditions.
